To begin explaining, let's start from the beginning. The elementary schools here at Kingston reported to have outdated computers the staff sought as a "waste," however, Ferguson saved these old computers before being tossed out in hopes of a new project. Thus, the Super Computer Project came to life.
Now... you might ask, what is a super computer? A super computer is a group of already existing computers linked together to create one giant computer, in simplistic terms. We call this a cluster.
First we started with wiping Windows from the computers and adding a Linux operating system to network them together. After doing so we mounted the computers on a rack and proceeded to mount other things such as power strips and Ethernets to link the computers.
We were also recently donated a networking system. (This device is expensive!) Whoever gave it to us is very generous and we are thankful for it.
Where we are at now is here, with a nearly finished project. Really, all that is missing is getting the cluster to respond to the control computer through Linux. You can also see a monitor and a keyboard stand was mounted. Through out this project I was working with my classmate Issac to complete the project. Though, I did most of the software work, Issac deserves a lot of credit for mounting most of the computers and equipment. (Picture underneath shows Issac mounting computers and as well as Ryan and Mr. Ferguson questioning life as I take a picture of them.)
